Angelreich was formed in the last days of summer 2002 in Pila (north-west Poland). A group of friends, having previously reached some musical experience in a number of other bands, came up with brutal metal core with a touch of melody. The initial line-up was as follows: Hubert and Matt, both doing the vocals, Tom on the guitar, Bartek playing the drums and Krzysiek on the bass. In a very short period of time, we managed to create the material for our first demo, which was given to some people, mainly friends. Soon after the release of the first recording, the first personal change in the band took place: Krzysiek was replaced by Adam on the bass guitar. With this dose of fresh blood, Angelreich started to play more shows in Poland.
In July 2003, the new MCD, titled "When The Lights Fade Away... Fears Crawl Out" was put out. This record contains six songs inspired by fast, intricate black metal mixed up with hardcore aggression and brutal mosh parts. The demo has been sold in a number of approximately 400 copies, collecting positive feedback in our homeland and also in other European countries and being reviewed in respected zines dealing with hardcore and metal music.
While speaking of Angelreich, the aspect of the lyrics has to be mentioned. These, besides presenting some individual problems, deal with some universal issues, for instance: devastation of the natural environment, the negative influence of mass culture on the individual, animal and human rights, alternative (drug free) way of life, or simply absence of love and crisis of interpersonal relations in today's world. One can also find references to some political events, which reveal band's critical attitude towards any acts of terror, hate between civilizations, nations or individual people.
Since October 2003, Angelreich has played as a quartet, because of Hubert's decision to leave the band and at once to cross ways with Fall Behind.
In February 2005, the split with Torment Of Prometheus (Germany), entitled "Our minds, our thoughts" was released by German label Fuck This Recordings. The five tracks on the Angelreich side were recorded at Serakos Studio in Warsaw in the very beginning of September 2004. Unfortunately, the sudden departure of Bartek and Adam from the band forced Angelreich to cancel live appearances promoting this album.
Since October 2005 the group has rehearsed with totally new lineup (Grzesiek - bass, Mateusz - drums and Waldek - guitar joined) and at the completely new headquarters in Szczecin. These changes turned out to be profitable, for Angelreich soon retained the ability to play shows and returned with numerous gigs, most of them beyond the Polish borders...
Live performances are very important in band's activity. Through these four years of Angelreich's existence, we played circa 80 shows in various foreign countries like Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Lithuania and Latvia, with such bands as: Evergreen Terrace, Born From Pain, Integrity, Risen, Deadlock, Cataract, Sunrise, Confronto, Nueva Etica, To Kill, Bridge To Solace, Faust Again, Machinemade God, A Traitor Like Judas, Fall Of A Season and many others. The five-day European tour in April and May 2006 was a significant event in group's history.
